Creative Commons have launched a music remixing site featuring remixes and samples licensed under Creative Commons licenses. The demonstration project is called ccMixter and started as a tie-in promotional remix contest with WIRED magazine. Introducing DJ $hortness (Rynita McGuire); born in 1977, Kalamazoo, Michigan USA. Rynita was born with a rare disability called Arthrogryposis. This rare physical disability makes the joints in her arms and legs incredibly stiff and the grip in her hands weaker. To compensate the lack of reach or ability to grip, she taught herself how to use her mouth for a lot of things, including painting and DJ-ing. Despite my disability, I’ve lived my entire life like any other hardcore chick. I did everything all the other kids did. Sometimes I think I pushed the envelope even further in an effort to prove I was tougher than anyone gave me credit for. She uses a mouthstick to control the mixer and the turntables. Each and every year I Love Techno (the biggest indoor Techno event in Belgium) manages to surprise partypeople from all over Europe with an incredible international artist line up covering most of the world. Even though they often get praised for their various and progressive line-up, the organisation decided to push the envelope even further for this year’s event. Young film makers can use Moby's music for free. The music can be downloaded from his website. It can be used for non-commercial films and video’s. Moby says he’s supporting these young filmmakers because the rights to use music from artists are just too expensive.
